First-Ever Adelaide Hills Wine Race Day Debuts This December

Morphettville racecourse will transform this December as six wineries bring their cellar doors into the city to showcase their products.

Gather a group of friends or the family for a fabulous day of live horse racing and an Adelaide Hills Wine Race Day tour on the Champagne Lawns at Morphettville Racecourse on Saturday, 9 December.

The inaugural Adelaide Hills Wine Race Day is the perfect blend of wine tasting in the one easy location, with the excitement of live horse racing throughout the day to keep you on your toes.

Six premium wineries will showcase their finest drops on the Champagne Lawns to create a one stop cellar door experience – The Lane, O’Leary Walker, Barristers Block, Sidewood, Mount Lofty Ranges Vineyard and Top Note – with each person taking home a special commemorative wine glass. Entry to the Champagne Lawns is $5 for adults and children under 18 are free.

SAJC CEO Grant Mayer said they were thrilled to have so many premium Adelaide Hills wineries on board to for their first-ever Wine Race Day.

“We wanted to offer a new experience that combined first-class wine tasting in the one location with quality thoroughbred racing and plenty of activities for the kids,” Mr Mayer said.

“We’re looking forward to another great turnout at Morphettville to enjoy some of our State’s best wines.”

And if it’s a family day out that you’re seeking, the kids will also be entertained with an enclosed area offering pony rides, face painting, a petting zoo and even a chance to meet Santa as he takes a break from the Magic Cave.
