Final Float Revealed For The 2011 Credit Union Christmas Pageant

Preparations for the 2011 Credit Union Christmas Pageant are on schedule with just three sleeps to go.

The final new float in this year’s parade, Penguins ‘R’ Koool, was revealed today having its finishing touches applied ahead of the main event this weekend.

Designed, carved and painted by artist, David Blight, Penguins R Koool sees Mamma and Pops Penguin playing with their family, sleigh boarding and belly sliding on the ice.

The built-in float mechanics creates the magical illusion of the penguin family actually sliding on the ice.

Brian Gilbertson, Event Manager and Creative Director said he expected Penguins ‘R’ Koool would be a new favourite float with pageant-goers.

“Penguins ‘R’ Koool is visually spectacular and the movement of the penguins sliding around and over the huge whale all adds to the artistic detail that is synonymous with a David Blight float,” Mr Gilbertson said.

Peter Evers, Chair, Credit Union Christmas Pageant Company, said the credit unions were delighted with the finished penguin product.

“We look forward to welcoming this new float to the pageant family and seeing the crowd’s reaction when they see it for the first time,” Mr Evers said.

In 2011 the Pageant will be travelling a slightly different route along Flinders Street due to construction works along Grenfell Street.

Event organisers encourage pageant-goers to study the route map carefully.

The Credit Union Christmas Pageant is owned and managed by the South Australian Tourism Commission on behalf of the South Australian Government and sponsored by four leading credit unions in South Australia – People’s Choice Credit Union, Community CPS Australia, Credit Union SA and Police Credit Union.
