Oyster lovers came from far and wide to get their fix on Saturday afternoon for The Feathers Hotel’s very first Oysterfest. With super fresh Coffin Bay Oysters supplied by Angelakis Bros., beer from Coopers Brewery and The Lane Vineyard serving up their range of delicious wines, it was a three hour gourmet extravaganza.
Held in the award winning Feather’s Terrace, guests were treated to a variety of dishes all celebrating the humble Oyster. Starting with freshly shucked natural, there was a range of saucy delights to top these little bundles of goodness including a Nam Jim and Bloody Mary dressing.
Three styles of cooked Oysters then made their way around the crowd. The good old “killer” topped with the Feathers special killer sauce and bacon, a tempura style with jalapeño aioli, and crowd favourite, the Rockefeller complete with spinach, pernod and a garlic parmesan crumb.
In case that wasn’t enough for your taste buds to smash out, there were plenty of other Oyster treats to go around. The oyster burger, oyster aranchini balls, shots of oyster and seafood chowder and a Coopers stout and Oyster pie also helped to fill the bellies of guests.
To top if off, chefs created a seafood paella to die for that included our little Coffin Bay Oyster friends along with Boston Bay muscles and Goolwa pippies. De-lic-ious!
