BRAVE Flinders Research & Innovation Series – Which Body Fits?

June 5 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

In an age where fit is the new skinny, expectations of the ‘perfect body’ have reached a level of unattainability for the vast majority of society. Messages about what constitutes the ideal body and flawless image come from a multitude of sources and drive multibillion dollar industries in sales of magazines, clothes, cosmetics, food and even discretionary surgery.

Flinders University is proud to introduce the first public lecture of 2018, a discussion on the mental and physical effects of perfect body aspirations and the ‘fitspiration’ movement.

5:30pm | Pre-Lecture Refreshments
6:00pm | Lecture
7:00pm | Post-Lecture Refreshments

This evening we have brought together three Flinders University academics:
Professor Marika Tiggemann
Professor Murray Drummond
Professor Tracey Wade
Along with Taryn Brumfitt, creator of the hugely engaging documentary, Embrace and founder of the Body Image Movement to discuss this topic at length

Through its education and research programs, Flinders encourages new ways of thinking, and supports experimentation and daring, with the mission to contribute on an international scale through ‘changing lives and changing the world’. So we invite you to share and collaborate with us on our BRAVE journey. We will impart our knowledge and new discoveries, elevate the discussion and inspire debate; all with the view to facilitate the betterment of our society.

Be BRAVE, be bold, be at Flinders.
