The Adelaide Fashion Festival heads in to its seventh consecutive year in 2014 with an outstanding line up of talent and events unveiled over a ten-day program, from 17 – 26 October.

Presented by the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters and The Parade, Norwood, one of Adelaide’s premier fashion destinations, the annual Adelaide Fashion Festival (AFF) is nationally recognised as South Australia’s premier fashion event; showcasing the State’s dynamic and innovative fashion industry.

Adelaide Fashion Festival Coordinator Cristina Tridente said, “This year is promising to be the biggest Festival to date! From its inception in 2008 with just three events over four days, the Festival has grown to a ten-day schedule for the first time, with a confirmed 17 events and 12 designers.

“We are pleased to present a program that caters to a broader demographic this year, and can confidently say there is something for everyone,” Miss Tridente said.

The Emerging Designers component of the SA Designer Fashion Showcase, the premier event of the AFF, supports South Australia’s young and emerging designers by providing a national platform to showcase their collections. This component sees the best of South Australia’s young designers compete for the coveted title of ‘Emerging Designer of the Year.’

City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters Mayor, Robert Bria said, “Before the Adelaide Fashion Festival, South Australia’s young and emerging designers had limited opportunity to showcase their talents and break into the competitive fashion industry. The Festival has played an important role in getting new labels out before the public and industry leaders.

We should remember that Paul Vasilef (label Paolo Sebastian) was only 17 when he showed his collection at the first Adelaide Fashion Festival and he is now selling wedding dresses in New York. I would like to think the Festival gave him the initial exposure he needed far earlier in his career than even he may have anticipated,” said Mayor Bria.

With numerous events of all magnitudes spanning across ten days, the 2014 AFF promises to deliver an exciting fashion experience, and has established itself as a firm fixture on Adelaide’s annual event calendar and social scene.
