It’s even easier to Eat Local in South Australia with a new app and mobile phone website released to help foodies and travelers access Eat Local venues.
The Eat Local campaign, which was developed by Food SA and launched by Minister Gail Gago last October, has gone from strength to strength with over 120 venues signed up to Eat Local across the state.
Minister for Agriculture, Food and Fisheries Gail Gago said Eat Local is an initiative connecting food producers, the food service industry and consumers together, and has called for South Australian businesses and venues to embrace it.
“Eat Local positions our regions, their produce and venues such as restaurants, cafes and pubs on the culinary tourist map to consumers,” Ms Gago said.
“Additions to the Eat Local program such as the app and mobile phone version will make Eat Local even easier for consumers to source Premium Food and Wine from our Clean Environment – which is one of the State Government’s seven strategic priorities.
“Eat Local is a great initiative for consumers to support both South Australian food producers and our food service industry by dining at venues which actively choose to include local produce on their menu.
“Eat Local allows consumers to identify venues offering the best of South Australia on their menus, and discover new products, flavours and dishes sourced and created locally, and it will be great to see it grow as more and more venues and producers get on board.
“With over 120 venues such as Appellation, The Kings Hotel, The Highway, Goodlife Modern Organic Pizza, d’Arry’s Verandah Restaurant, Star of Greece, and the Bridgewater Inn to name a few, you could Eat Local every week at a different venue.
“The app is available in both Apple and android, and includes features that allow you to get directions via Google Maps to venues whilst travelling. You can also save your favourite venues, so you can plan an Eat Local itinerary when travelling the regions.”
