Here at the SANFL, we love our footy but there’s one thing we care about more than the game, and that’s the people who are involved in it.
It’s time to celebrate the women in football – from the mums and partners who support the players every week, to the female trainers, volunteers and supporters who wear their heart on their sleeve for their local club.
It is also a fantastic opportunity to partner with the Heart Foundation and remind women to monitor their heart health.
It’s staggering to realise that almost 30 Australian women die of heart disease every day – the equivalent of an entire football team, plus the coach and trainers.
And despite these massive numbers, 82 percent of women are UNAWARE that heart disease is the leading cause of death for females in Australia
What’s involved?
- Flashing heart badges will be available at all grounds for a gold coin donation.
- Home clubs will auction fantastic AFL experiences with part proceeds going to the Heart Foundation.
- All-girls’ Mini League will be hosted at Alberton and Hickinbotham Ovals.
- A special-edition Heart Foundation Ladies Round Footy Budget will be on sale.
