The answer is yes because we just cleaned up at the international shows! Some exciting results have just come through; Applewood Distillery liqueurs are world class winners!

The 2018 London Spirits Competition is touted as the World ‘Most Relevant Spirits Competition’ where products are rated on more than just the flavour, but also the value and packaging. Adelaide’s Økar Amaro took out Gold – one of only 20 awarded across 100s of entrants, and the only Amaro to be awarded top-of-the-pile! What’s Amaro? A bitter aperitif commonly used in classic cocktails such as the Negroni, the Americano – or served as a Spritz or on the rocks! Økar is Australia’s own Amaro! Hand-crafted in a Gumeracha-based distillery, Økar is Australia’s only home-grown Amaro, based on native Australian ingredients that are putting us on the map on the global spirits scene. And with worldwide Negroni-Week happening right now, we are super stoked with this timely win.

If Adelaide’s Amaro win wasn’t enough, it was backed up with our favourite locally crafted coffee liqueur, Espressocello and Gin taking Silver! That’s right Adelaide, we have always known that our food and drink is pretty world class, but this just proves it, and yes we will bask in our glory.

2018 Berlin International Spirits Competition had over 300 entries in this year’s competition and Adelaide’s own Espressocello came out shining with a Gold Medal! Yup, another golden win for us Adelaide. and being Awarded as Australia’s Top Liqueur Distillery and taking it to some of the world’s largest spirits companies! Espressocello has been a labour of love, to craft Australian coffee culture into a liqueur for use in Espresso Martinis, Black & White Russians – or as simply a way to finish the day the same way we start it! From sustainably sourced South Australian grape spirit, the coffee-punch for this award-winning liqueur comes from Adelaide’s own – Mighty Mighty Coffee Roastery! Hand-crafted in Gumeracha, SA.

Well, South Aussies, we’ve said it before and we will say it again, we make incredible alcohol! No excuse to try out these world acclaimed drinks, especially with World Negroni Week unfolding right now and World Gin Day happing on the 9th of June. Bottoms up Adelaide, because we are on top!
