The family friendly event will run from 11am to 5pm, hosted by Cosi from Channel 9’s South Aussie with Cosi, and wife Sam who will showcase what Churchill Centre has to offer customers, including fresh food, home wares, and fashion.
Guests will be treated to a full day of activities including Kmart kids’ fashion styling sessions and performances by singer, writer and stage performer Amity Dry and the Hepburn Band.
Amity has been touring Australia and New York with her stage show Mother, Wife and Complicated Life and is excited to take to the stage next month.
“It will be a great day out for the family, there will be plenty to do for the kids, and of course great shopping,” Amity said.
In a nod to the history of the Kilburn area once known as “Little Chicago,” the centre will also welcome a pizza maker who will demonstrate the making of the iconic Chicago deep dish pizza.
The event’s historical train theme is also inspired by the original site for the shopping development, reflecting the history of the former Islington Railyards. Churchill Centre will have their own train conductors on hand passing out giveaways and manning the train station inspired photo booth.
The Hon Jay Weatherill MP Premier of South Australia and City of Port Adelaide Enfield Mayor Gary Johanson will join Cosi in opening the new facility.
“This centre is really exciting for South Australia, I am excited to be a part of the grand opening and to visit with the family,” Cosi said.
Churchill Centre is the largest sub-regional shopping development in Adelaide, and will include some South Australian firsts such as the membership-based Costco and the first Coles Superstore.
Churchill Centre is located at 400 Churchill Road, Kilburn with its core opening hours 9am to 5.30pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, 9am to 9pm Thursdays, 9am to 5pm Saturdays and 11am to 5pm Sundays, with extended trading hours for Coles Superstore.
