A destination wedding gone totally wrong A FEW BEST MEN was written by
Death at a Funeral’s Dean Craig and is being produced by Arclight’s Gary Hamilton (Salvation Boulevard, Romulus My Father, Merchant of Venice, The Bank Job), the producing team of Share Stallings (Death at a Funeral, Curious George 2, Curious George TV Series, The Reality Trap) andLaurence Malkin (Death at a Funeral, Five Fingers, Soul Assassin, Caffeine), and Antonia Barnard (Last Ride, The Painted Veil).
When English lad David announces he is getting married to an Australian, his hapless mates give a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘for better or worse’! The chaos-filled wedding day tests their new marriage, challenges David’s relationships with his three best men, and risks turning what should be the best day of their lives into the worst. A FEW BEST MEN is a hilarious culture clash between his friends and her family – because blood is thicker than water, and so are David’s mates!
In making the announcement producer Gary Hamilton said: “I’m delighted that Xavier Samuel is on board. From his feature debut in 2:37 to Twilight Eclipse as well as the upcoming films Anonymous and Bait 3D, he is a remarkably versatile talent who’s poised to become a major star.”
“I’m also thrilled Olivia Newton-John is part of the cast of A FEW BEST MEN. Dean Craig has written a fantastically entertaining script, and it’s especially exciting to partner Stephan Elliott with Olivia who is a true music and film icon. Olivia will be playing a role that will show her in a light she’s never been seen before and it’s going to turn heads and win new fans” he continued.
Producers Share Stallings and Laurence Malkin said: “This is our fourth movie with Dean and we couldn’t be more excited to have Stephan at the helm. It has been an absolute pleasure working with both of them. We are equally thrilled to be working with Kris Marshall again. He was such a joy onDeath At A Funeral . The hysterically funny Kevin Bishop is also a wonderful addition to the cast. None of this would be possible without the generous support of Arclight Films, Screen Australia and Screen NSW. We find producing in Australia to be a fantastic experience.”
Behind the camera Elliott has amassed an outstanding crew, reuniting with Priscilla’s Academy Award® winning Costume Designer Lizzy Gardiner(Burning Man, Mission Impossible II), and appointing Production DesignerGeorge Liddle (Daybreakers, Willfull, Dark City) and Director of Photography Steve Windon ACS (The Pacific, The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift).
“A FEW BEST MEN is my take on a hugely successful emerging genre – wedding movies for boys. The girls get the big day. The boys get to sabotage it. And boy I am gonna have some fun. Plus, I believe it is my moral and patriotic duty to employ my ageing friends before they die” said director Stephan Elliott.
