Every city needs its fantastic little wine bars, where we can escape from the world, grab a great bottle of plonk and catch up with friends. Luckily for us, Adelaide has embraced this concept, with a steady stream of new and amazing venues popping up over the last year or so.

The latest addition to the fold is from old school favourite East End Cellars, who have pooled their collective talents and opened The Tasting Room on Vardon Avenue. It quietly opened its doors during Adelaide Fringe, but had its official launch this week.

The Tasting Room is a hybrid between a bottle shop (stocking the best wines around), a bar (filled with enough atmosphere to convince you it’s been there forever) and your best friend’s cellar (which you’ve always been envious of).

Team those attributes with its convenient location right off Rundle Street in the city, and you’ve got yourself a winner.

The thing I love most about The Tasting Room, is that it’s a place for the die hards. This is about the wine. It’s not a late night venue to party at. It’s not a restaurant, in fact it only has a small tasting plate menu. It’s about buying a good bottle of wine with friends and getting to know it, and them, better.

If you haven’t been there already, make a point of it. You won’t be disappointed.
