Black Caviar Comes to Adelaide

As the horse racing world gets set to witness Black Caviar compete for her 20th consecutive victory at Morphettville Racecourse this weekend, Adelaide City Council together with the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure want to help you get there.

Council will be opening Wikaparndo Wirra/Park 22 (accessible from Greenhill Road between Anzac Highway and Goodwood Road), and Wirranendi/Park 23 (accessible from Anzac Highway) for car parking on Saturday April 28, in support of the Autumn racing carnival.

“This is an opportunity for Adelaide City Council to get behind this significant and historic event.”

“We know there will be a lot of people who want see this world famous horse run, before she heads overseas to race at Royal Ascot in June,” Lord Mayor Stephen Yarwood said.

The South Australian Jockey Club has estimated crowds of more than 30,000 people at Morphettville on Saturday to witness the historic win.

While there will be parking at Morphettville Racecourse, Parks 22 and 23 will provide an additional 1100 car parks.

The proposed fee of $11.00 per car is consistent with parking fees for other major events, such as the Royal Adelaide Show.

The parks will open at 9 am on Saturday, with shuttle buses running every 30 minutes from 10 am to 6 pm, in addition to the usual tram services from the city to Morphettville Race Course.
