South Australia’s beautiful Barossa will be centre stage on tonight’s episode of MasterChef Australia as contestants go head to head in the elimination round.

Tourism Minister Leon Bignell said the popular series is a fantastic way to showcase the Barossa.
“The Barossa’s long been known as a premier wine destination, but of course it’s also home to unrivalled fresh produce, acclaimed restaurants and some very passionate local foodies,” Mr Bignell said.
“This series will add to the buzz generated by our national television campaign.
“With more than 2 million viewers expected to tune in to MasterChef Australia, people will see for themselves what sets the Barossa apart from interstate food and wine regions.
“We want to convey the authenticity of the Barossa; you can get back to basics here and enjoy high quality, honest food without the food miles, from the same distinctive soil that produces world-class wines.
MasterChef contestants have so far met different Barossa identities during the Barossa Skills Week and learnt essential skills including breaking down a whole lamb.
“The ‘back to basics’ skills week in the Barossa is consistent with Barossa foodies who place the emphasis on seasonality and working with the best, local produce.”
The Barossa Skills Week will peak with a tense head-to-head elimination challenge tonight.
South Australia will be represented by two contestants including a 23 year old student born in a refugee camp and a 41 year old cinema owner.
The South Australian Tourism Commission has invested in the Barossa MasterChef episodes as part of its overall Barossa campaign, which was launched late last month.
The Barossa. Be consumed TV commercial, also launched late last month, is now airing on television and cinema screens around the country.
Tune in for the final two Barossa MasterChef episodes airing tonight and tomorrow on Channel Ten at 7:30pm.
