Australia’s Best Self Contained Accommodation On Our Doorstep

Unique Riverland property ‘The Frames’ wins second national Australian tourism award!

Multi-award winning accommodation operators, Rick and Cathy Edmonds, have added yet another award to their collection, winning the national gold medal for ‘The Frames’ at Paringa as Australia’s best Self Contained Accommodation at the 2016 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.

The awards were announced on Friday night (February 24th) in a glittering gala presentation at the Darwin Convention Centre in front of over 800 representatives of the Australian tourism industry.

The Qantas Australian Tourism Awards is the pinnacle event of the tourism industry, which celebrates the outstanding work being done by individuals and businesses in providing exceptional visitor experiences.

The property won the Self Contained Accommodation category in the 2016 South Australian Tourism Awards for the second year in a row and a Silver medal in last year’s national competition.

Located in the riverside township of Paringa, near Renmark, The Frames is an ultra-luxury accommodation complex. The development is the result of extensive research in both the need for high quality, environmentally sustainable accommodation in the Riverland.

Designed by award-winning architect, Paul Pruszinski, The Frames features three distinct retreats of uncompromising luxury, set on a cliff-top with views over the River Murray.

Each opulent retreat is totally private and features a pool, Jacuzzi and a state of the art entertainment facility.

“We both have really busy lives and between our businesses and family, there’s very little time available for each other. When we are able to find time for ourselves, we want luxury, privacy and a special sort of seclusion. We have travelled around Australia and while we have stayed at some fabulous locations, we could not find exactly what suited our expectations, so we created it with The Frames”, said Cathy.

“ We are proud of the result of our vision, passionate about the Riverland and tourism in general and we are truly honoured to bring home another win for the region”.

Marketed as a romantic place to reconnect, rejuvenate and relax, the majority of guests since its opening in February 2014 have been celebrating wedding anniversaries and special ‘couple’ occasions.

Features of the development that particularly impressed judges were excellence in the planning of tourism infrastructure and services, with a focus on entrepreneurial vision, harmonious integration with the environment, design and functionality and uniqueness of the property.
