Everyone loves a supergroup, especially when it’s comprised of bonafide Aussie rock gods. So boy, you’ll get excited at the news that Antipodean Rock Collective (ARC) have just been announced as headline act for the Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR) free community celebration in Adelaide on Sunday, 18 February!
Delivered in conjunction with the City of Adelaide, the event at Adelaide Oval’s Southern Plaza finishes a Relay day which also includes visits to Renmark Paringa, Angaston and Glenelg.
Featuring members of legendary Australian bands Spiderbait, Jet, Powderfinger and You Am I, ARC are no strangers to combining music and sport with their inaugural performance as a group coming at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
With 33 ARIA awards and 16 top-ten albums between ARC’s four members, Kram, Mark Wilson, Darren Middleton and Davey Lane, their performance will bring South Australians together for a memorable night of entertainment and celebration.
“We can’t wait to perform at Queen’s Baton Relay celebrations in Adelaide. We love sharing our music, giving audiences a chance to dance, sing and shout, and it’s great to be a part of the lead-up to the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games,” said Darren Middleton.
The family-friendly celebration will commence at 5.00pm, with free community entertainment and activities, food trucks and come and try sports at the Adelaide Oval’s Southern Plaza (Telstra Plaza).
From 5.30pm, there are performances by Adelaide band Runaway Weekend and GC2018 mascot Borobi before the Queen’s Baton is carried onto stage by Batonbearer Ron Russo, 2017 Lord Mayor’s Sports Volunteer of the Year for the City of Adelaide.
ARC will then take to the stage for two sets.
