ASO Set to Sizzle With The Cook & The Chef

OrchestraIn a gastronomic feast for foodies and music lovers alike, the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra will sizzle when it pairs a smorgasbord of music with the culinary delights conjured by two of Australia’s leading food identities, Maggie Beer and Simon Bryant in The Cook The Chef and the ASO.

Famous for their chemistry in the popular ABC TV series The Cook and the Chef, food icon Maggie Beer and celebrity chef Simon Bryant will chop, blend and whip their ingredients while the ASO provides the perfect soundtrack for an evening of sumptuous culinary and musical surprises on Friday 13 August, 8pm and Saturday 14 August, 8pm at the Festival Theatre.

Conducted by Guy Noble, this concert, in a first for Adelaide audiences, will feature live cooking in a custom built kitchen on the stage of the Festival Theatre. Audiences will salivate as aromas waft through the theatre, which will add to the experience, and tempt taste buds!

Foodies will be able to see the food preparation up close on the big screen, and admire the culinary creations as they are served up to the sounds of the ASO and familiar favourites including The Ride of the Valkyries, The Can Can, The Marriage of Figaro and Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. As well as the fun and fanfare of familiar classics which will which will provide the soundtrack as Maggie and Simon create their perfect menu, audiences can expect many musical surprises spanning the diverse tastes of The Cook and The Chef

Music has played a central role in both Maggie and Simon’s lives both personally and in the kitchen. For Beer it’s the emotion of music that she believes translates into food perfectly. For Bryant, whose musical taste spans almost every genre of music has been a constant soundtrack in his career as one of Australia’s leading chefs.
