Animal Kingdom Ignites Australian Box Office

The award-winning crime drama ANIMAL KINGDOM opened on the 3rd June on 48 screens nationally and has taken an extremely healthy $604,139 on its opening weekend.

The film released in Australia against U.S blockbusters Sex in the City 2 and Prince of Persia, and has opened at # 4 on the Australian Box Office charts with a screen average of $12,586.

Animal Kingdom has received glowing reviews from critics nationally and much admiration has been bestowed on writer-director, David Michôd, for his directorial debut and the fantastic ensemble cast.

U.S distributors, Sony Picture Classics, are now gearing up for the North American release of the film on the 13th August. ANIMAL KINDGOM has been sold to international markets including US and Latin American markets (Sony Pictures Classic), United Kingdom (Optimum Releasing), France (ARP Selection) Italy (Mikado Films), Scandinavia (Scanbox Entertainment), Benelux (Paradiso), Spain (Avalon), Germany (Atlas) and Commonwealth of Independent States, former Russia (Film Depot).
