Almonte And Chong Are Back In Adelaide

Acclaimed piano duo Caroline Almonte & Kristian Chong return to Adelaide to perform a program of music for two pianos, for Recitals Australia’s 2010 series on Saturday 26th June at Elder Hall.

Almonte and Chong both have a wide range of performance experience which includes having performed Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and recently performed for Musica Viva in the Coffee Concert Series.

Chongwas born and raised in Adelaide and is a favourite with local and interstate audiences. Chong was twice awarded a Dip. RAM from the Royal Academy of Music, during his time in London. Chong is now based back in Australia and performs extensively as a soloist and chamber musician.

Caroline Almonte, his duo partner, is also a highly sought after soloist and internationally recognised for her work with violinist Miki Tsunoda as Duo Sol.

They both studied piano under Stephen McIntyre and have been performing together since 2002. The duo’s last performance in Adelaide was in 2008 and they are both currently teaching at the University of Melbourne.

Almonte & Chong’s program for the 26th of June includes Mozart’s Sonata in D major, the Bartok Sonata for Two pianos and percussion and Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story featuring local percussionists Andrew Weiring and Edward Higgs.
