Music SA’s Umbrella: Winter City Sounds today announced its return in 2018 from 13 – 29 July, when over 300 live music events are expected to engulf Adelaide’s CBD and, in a new move for 2018, Umbrella: Winter City Sounds will rock into Adelaide’s suburbs!

Umbrella has been designed to help spread Adelaide’s cultural festival activity beyond Mad March. The two-week Umbrella winter festival will transform the greater Adelaide area into a winter wonderland of music and discovery as the CBD and suburbs come alive with the warmth of contemporary music.

For the first time in 2018 the festival will extend into the outskirts of metropolitan Adelaide where a great deal of live music will be enjoyed in suburban venues and through local council activations as part of Umbrella.

Lisa Bishop, General Manager of Music SA said that she is excited to launch the festival for its third consecutive year and extending the event out into Adelaide’s suburbs will bring a new light onto some of Adelaide key metropolitan venues and performers.

“Extending the event into the suburbs is a direct response to the overwhelming interest we received from artists, bands and venues to bring the festival to their local communities and to include councils and iconic metro venues.”

Event registration opens online on the 26th March and any artist, hotel, venue, local council or promoter is welcome to register their gigs to be included in the Umbrella: Winter City Sounds printed program as well as the digital Online Program on the Umbrella website.
