Adelaide’s First Permanent Food Truck Park Is Here

While the rest of Adelaide is queuing around the block for Fringe, why not gather the troops and head on down to the Showgrounds to fill up and dance the night away!

Fringe is coming up, and while we love the events and party-atmosphere of the city, we’re not always huge fans of the crowds. Sometimes you’re just not prepared to line up for half an hour for a beer or decent food, amirite?! If you’re like us, get out of the hustle and bustle of the city centre (or before or after a Fringe show), and pop down to Wayville Showgrounds because some awesome curb-side foodies are joining forces to pull together Adelaide’s first permanent food truck hub, ‘The Food Truck Movement‘.

From tonight, February 24th, the seemingly under-utilised Goyder Pavilion at the Showgrounds will come to life with new SA food trucks, pop up bars, live entertainment and DJs every single weekend. It’ll be the perfect spot to escape the chaos of Mad March whilst still getting out and about with your gang. The FREE event promises a relaxed atmosphere with something for everyone.

The idea came to life when food truck veterans, John McKay and John Hall, saw the similar offerings in Victoria and other major cities, and decided that Adelaide should join in on the fun too. Not only can you find plenty of space to chill out, loads of parking spaces and real toilets (no portaloos!!), but you’ll also be supporting some awesome South Aussie small businesses in the process!

If you’re after more of a laid back option to finish off your weekend after seeing all that the Fringe has to offer, we’ve got you covered too! Sunday Sessions will have a family friendly-focus, so you can walk around and discover mouthwatering street food while feeling at ease, knowing the boundaries of the grounds keep your littlies within eye shot.

While we can’t reveal all their secrets just yet, we can confirm that on regular rotation will be food trucks Squid Ink, Gourmet Grillerz and Phat Buddha rolls. Supplying the bevvies will be Pirate Life, O’Leary Walker and oh, so many more!

If you get down there for opening weekend too, they’re playing the ever-popular ‘Flip for a Frothy’!
