Adelaide Stylist Lends Her Ideas To Apartment Living In Bowden

It’s a free evening of tops, cheaper than flicking through a magazine for style ideas and will be showing off some of the new 354 Bowden development.

Leading residential development, 354 Bowden, will inspire Adelaidians to Live Beautifully at an event next week featuring Interior Designer, Jacqui Dunn.

With a career spanning more than 15 years, Ms Dunn will speak on the latest interior trends and give her expert tips to make the most of apartment living at 354 Bowden’s first release – On The Lane.

Released just over a month ago, 50 per cent of the apartments have already been snapped-up with buyers eager to take advantage of the development’s premium location next to the vibrant marketplace, Plant 4, and the Bowden Town Square.

In a sneak peek of what’s the come, Jacqui has shared with us her Top 10 Tips on Styling Apartments:

Versatility
Select your furniture carefully. Apartment living calls for versatile furniture which perform multiple functions in the space. For example, an ottoman can provide storage and bench seating while also adding visual appeal.

Storage
Storage, storage and more storage. It can’t be emphasised enough how much ample storage can transform any home. Maximise storage by building shelves that span an entire wall but maximalists beware, these shelves need to be kept tidy otherwise the room will feel overwhelmed and cluttered.

Mirrors
Even if it’s an optical illusion, mirrors will appear to double your space. For maximum design punch, place a large mirror on one side of the room to reflect natural light. If that mirror happens to be round, you’ll be right on trend.

Apartment diet
Only add to your apartment if you’re willing to take something out, which is good for both your space and your bank account. There’s a common design philosophy that everything in your home should be useful, loved or beautiful – if an item doesn’t fit this criteria, out it goes.

Curate mini exhibits
Sometimes we have more things to love than we have room to display them. So, if you collect both beach artefacts and patterned china, opt for a seasonal display which allows these precious keepsakes to be exchanged frequently.

Window treatments
No fuss blinds and or sheers are a common choice, but don’t be afraid to install curtains and play around with colour and print. Just make sure any drapes span from the floor to the ceiling.

Create a space within a space
View your apartment as a chance to zone areas through furniture and decoration. For example, a feature a hall table with a mirror above defines a place to put your keys and bag when you walk through the door, rather than it being dumped on the kitchen bench. Floor rugs are way to define unique areas, for example under the dining room table, living space and in the entrance.

Don’t be afraid of colour
Pick a colour and continue it throughout your living space. Maybe it’s a colour in a piece of art that you love which can then also be used in the scatter cushions or accessories like a vase or coffee table book.

Scale
Small scale furniture can throw-off the proportion of a room and it’s a common mistake made in apartment living. Instead of filling your home with lots of compact furniture, focus on a few full size pieces.

Enjoy it
