Adelaide Hills Magazine has been awarded the inaugural Regional Publication of the Year Award at the National Publishers Australia Excellence Awards.
Owner and Publishing Editor, Mikyla Gilbert travelled to Sydney to attend the awards held on Darling Harbour. “We are the first publication from South Australia to win a national Publisher’s Australia Excellence award,” said Ms Gilbert. “We’re still on a high!”
Over the past 15 years, the Publishers Australia Excellence Awards have become the leading and most coveted magazine industry awards in Australia. In 2010 the new category of Regional Publication of the Year was introduced to acknowledge the important role of regional publications in communicating with their communities.
One of the judges at the awards ceremony said of the magazine, “Adelaide Hills Magazine is very focused, really addressing its community in an enlightening and entertaining way”.
Another judge called it “A stand out entry”.
The Publishers Australia Excellence Awards 2010 were judged by a team of 14 judges led by managing director of Essence Media & Fusion Strategy, Steve Allen.
The magazine is not yet two years old – launched in Autumn 2009 to reach a broad local readership and a growing national audience with its mix of rich editorial content, stunning images, honest, wit and humour.
AHM is sold throughout South Australia and distributed nationally by Fairfax Media Publication Solutions, and has subscribers all over the country, not to mention UK, Canada and the US.
“I’d love to think this award can help further raise the profile of the Adelaide Hills among potential visitors and investors. It’s a beautiful, exciting region and it’s championed by a magazine that reflects that,” said Ms. Gilbert.
Head judge Steve Allen praised the quality of entries in this year’s Publishers Australia Excellence Awards.
“These awards are the most varied and diverse I have been involved with, which made the judges acutely aware of how different publishers were tackling the marketplace, especially in this last extremely challenging year” said Mr. Allen.
