Frog cakes, Coopers Pale Ale, big silver balls and fritz sandwiches are all heaps good – and so are the 10 Adelaide bands that Nova 919 has recruited for SA’s Heaps Good Bands competition.

The Salvadors, Move To Strike, Echo & The Empress, Radio Spectacular, The House Inspectors, Streetlight Symphony, Mammoth Logic, Dialect and Despair, Headstrong Company and 20th Century Graduates are all in it to win it… that is, a $5,000 music grant provided by the heaps good guys at Coopers & Nova.

Over the next couple of weeks, listeners are asked to visit novafm.com.au to check out the bands’ profiles, audio and video and vote for who they’d like to see support The Touch – who were the national winners of Nova’s I Am With The Band – at a gig on Thursday August 26 at Jive. The two bands with the most votes will be battle it out on the night to determine who the winner is.

And the bands will be drumming up extra support as they hit the streets and perform random gigs in high traffic areas around town such as shopping centres, the mall and dodgy alley ways.

Nova 919’s, Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald, is a proud supporter of Adelaide’s local music scene and is getting right behind the competition.

“Local music is rad.  It’s always cheap door entry to get in which gives you more money to buy ales with, and that’s heaps good,” Fitzy says.

Every person who votes for their favourite band goes in the draw to score tickets to the gig for them and three mates, and be in the draw to win tickets to Nova concerts for a year – that’s about one gig a month.
