Academy Awarded Flickerfest

Australia’s only Academy Award-affiliated short-film festival kicks off in Adelaide at the MERCURY CINEMA on Saturday February 12th at 7:00PM.

FLICKERFEST’S list of alumni reads like a who’s who of the Australian filmmaking industry: David Michod, the director of the much-lauded Animal Kingdom; Warwick Thornton of Samson and Delilah fame; Adam Elliot, creator of Mary and Max. Since 2002 Flickerfest has screened 30 films that have then been either nominated for, or won, Academy Awards. This year, Andrew Ruhemann and talented illustrator Shaun Tan are up for an Academy Award with The Lost Thing.

Come to the MERCURY on the 12th of February and see the next Harvie Krumpet or Miracle Fish in the perfect movie-watching atmosphere of the single-screen 186-seat theatre. We have a dedicated projectionist, so no poor resolution of dodgy framing – just pure cinema-going magic with beer and wine available from the Candy Bar.

Flickerfest runs across two nights (Feb. 12th & 13th) at Mercury Cinema, 13 Morphett Street, Adelaide. Session tickets are $12/$15. Sessions are 100 minutes and are rated M15+. Call 8410 0979 during business hours for info.
