Revamped City Venue Open For Waterside Dining and Alfresco Brunches

After closing its doors for renovations, this venue is back with a new menu and absolutely cracking views.

Adelaide’s Riverbank precinct is on the up and up, with continual improvements happening to all of the waterfront venues along the Torrens.

While the Adelaide Festival Centre continues its renovations, any Skycity Adelaide begins its epic additions, there’s another venue that’s reopened with a new offering, just in time for the warmer weather.

And it’s given us a new reason to head back for second look.

Regattas has just opened its doors again, with new alfresco riverside dining options, and cracking views.

After closing its doors for a few months in the middle of the year, the venue is back with the new name Regattas Bar & Kitchen, a new look, and a new menu.

Sitting underneath the Adelaide Convention Centre and nestled right next to the Festival Centre, the restaurant looks out towards Adelaide Oval the footbridge and over the Torrens.

Head chef James Woods has created the new menu, which again showcases locally-sourced and seasonal produce.

You could easily just stick to the smaller plates and share platters, from goat cheese mousse with smoked tomato jelly and heirloom tomatoes, to the indulgent wild mushroom ragout with truffle cream and udon, or charred octopus with grilled chorizo and romesco. There are also three platters – meat, seafood or vegetarian – that are perfect for sharing with drinks pre-theatre (FYI they serve up a mean espresso martini).

If you have more time, you can also settle in for a full meal with a wide range of substantial mains, pizzas and steaks.

On Sundays, Regattas Bar & Kitchen is all about brunch from 9am-4pm. The all day menu darts from bircher muesli with strawberry and pistachio brittle, to the Regattas fat pancake stack with lashings of whipped butter and maple syrup, or the haloumi with zucchini, edamame, heirloom tomatoes, rocket, fennel, mint and lemon.

The new menu also offers up plenty of vegetarian, dairy and gluten free options.

You can sit inside for table service, or lap up the full alfresco experience in the outside garden for more casual dining and impressive river views.

Regattas Bar & Kitchen is also part of the broader Home Ground precinct on the Adelaide riverbank promenade, alongside casual eateries Sage Delicatessen and Goodbuns Diner.

Regattas Bar and Kitchen is open seven days, noon till late.
